Bare Necessities was founded in 2020 in response to a huge problem few of us are aware of: provision of pants and socks for the homeless. We currently operate in Cambridgeshire, however will be aiming to expand our work to other cities as soon as we secure more funding (please donate).
Why does this problem exist?
We, the kind and thoughtful folk of the UK, donate a lot of clothes to the homeless but we do not donate used pants and socks (that would be gross and demeaning), and we seldom give new clothes to centers that support the homeless. When centers do have stock of underwear, they seldom have enough for everyone of all sizes and in most cases the underwear is being purchased at the full retail price. The means that underwear is often rationed or unavailable when needed. This is the sad reality of the current situation in the UK today.
‘the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members’
Please give if you can. If you can’t donate; kindly share our work and encourage others to support.
